Innovation, efficiency and cost control to be competitive in Europe
In 2007, Italian banking groups incurred total expenditure amounting to 45 billion euros, 1.8% higher than the previous year. Growing attention has been paid to technological innovation and efficiency. The overall picture of the banks’ operating costs has been presented at the “Costs & Business” conference, held today in Rome.

Financial statements make it through the crisis, Roe and value figures slow down
ABI half-year results until 31 December 2007 were presented in Rome. ROE figures slipped by 1.4%; earnings slipped by 9.9% excluding one-off revenues from mergers; slight increase in expenses (+ 1,8%). Mr. Zadra says, “The Italian banking sector is strong and stable, and this is an advantage for the economy as a whole”. full text >>
