Services for underserved potential customers
From January 2008, the Financial Inclusion Laboratory has succeeded in delivering the initial findings of its research. The three reports are: the Italian survey on banks and financial inclusion; an analysis of financial and insurance needs of immigrants in Italy, and an assessment of the financial needs of migrants, a demand side study. Different stakeholders have shared the interim results on several occasions, for example at the 3rd ABI Forum on CSR (attended by more than 300 representatives of institutions, consumer associations, trade unions, enterprises and universities); a financial inclusion seminar organised in Tuscany together with ABI’s regional commission, and a co-building session among banks, researchers and the ABI in-house team.
The next round of research will be collecting individual best practices concerning innovative products or actions on microfinance, migrant banking and financial education. The aim is to integrate the general findings of the initial research with individual banking practices, further developing the dialogue among different banking departments involved in the creation of new products and services.
